CCE Obstacle Categories

CCE Obstacle Categories

REGULAR (RG) obstacles have dimensions and technicality standard of the Level. Two attempts allowed before a Mandatory Pass is required at Accredited Competitions. An additional third attempt is allowed at Training Competitions.

CHALLENGE (CH) obstacles have dimensions or technicality of the next higher Level and have higher points value. One attempt is allowed before a Mandatory Pass at all CCE competitions. Approximately 20% of all obstacles on a CCE course will be CH obstacles.

KNOCK DOWN (KD) obstacles have a top element that when dislodged incurs a penalty deducted from points scored. A KD obstacle will be a RG or CH obstacle. One attempt is allowed at CC-type and two attempts at SJ-type. Approximately 15% (CCR) and 30% (JOR) of obstacles on a CCE course will be KD obstacles.

CONNECTED (CO) obstacles are two or more in close proximity where attempting one implies attempting both. Typically only one attempt is allowed.

SUPPLEMENTAL (SU) obstacles are marked with a blank color coded number placard - without a number. They can be attempted at any time in the sequence of obstacles. One attempt only.

When an obstacle has more than one categorizations the most restrictive rules apply regarding attempts. Several more categories of obstacles will be introduced as the CCE roll-out continues.
